WEAPONS AGAINST MASS PRODUCTION

DRAWING TOOLS

Today creating drawings and detailed sketches by hand could seem archaic. With the introduction of drawing tablets and software the element of risk involved in the process can be removed by simply going digital. W.A.M.P is a curation of tools that celebrate the risk and pleasure of going analogue.

Drawing and working by hand is an important step in my design process. On a simple level it helps me develop an understanding of what I am creating and serves as a brilliant way to relay and describe information to others. On a more personal level it is the visceral pleasures that come with the process; such as the feeling of a pencil on paper or the weight of a beautiful drawing tool.

An important update in a plastic heavy range of modern drawing tools, material choice has been informed by an admiration of 1800’s draughtsman and navigational instruments, and a desire to avoid contributing to a sea of plastics. Satisfyingly weighted and hand polished they are a pleasure to use and to look at, with their continued use they will develop a patina that will be completely unique. There are currently two sets of drawing curves in this arsenal. One is made in silver plated brass with a hand filed chamfered edge. The other is un-plated with machined stepped edges.
